When we first created the Backcountry Beacon last year, we thought of it as nothing more than a parking lot for our newsletter articles.
But it quickly became apparent that updating the site only once a month was BO-RING.
Sure, we gave our articles a permanent home and provided our readers with a chance to comment and read other stories. But come on, you’d check back after a few weeks, and sure enough—same article on the front page, same content on the sidebar. Nothing had changed. Seriously?
Starting on Wednesday we will update the Backcountry Beacon every work day with new content. We figured three newsletter articles would hold you over until Hump-day.
Think of the Backcountry Beacon as a collection of articles that are a bit more objective and info-intensive than The Goat Blog, but not as big of commitment as our monthly newsletter stories (which we are still writing, by the way).
Needless to say, our articles will focus on the outdoors, outdoor gear, and outdoor culture.
So come back often, comment on articles, and tell friends and co-workers who need yet another distraction. (As if Steep and Cheap wasn’t enough.)
