Not everyone has the time, money, or motivation to end-to-end hike the Pacific Crest, Continental Divide, or Appalachian trails, but that’s no excuse to avoid these thru-hikes altogether. You can easily sample pristine sections of these classics.
The problem is, with a combined 7924 miles of trail, it can be hard to figure out where to start. That’s why over the next three days we will show you our favorite sections of the PCT, ACT, and CDT. You’ll find a brief overview of each hike, when to do it, what to bring, and how to get there.
Now all you need some time off…

the mahoosuc notch is considered the hardest mile of the AT but when i did it for a day hike ” the re-births” and huge boulders made it one of the most memorable hikes of my life.

Hey thanks.
We’ll be highlighting our favorite section of the AT trail on Thursday … so leave your 2¢ there as well. BTW … did you see our article on the Long Trail? Have you hiked that?
