I like what you have to say about tents. I'm not a huge winter camper, but I've done survival training in the military and have found that most tents for sale in your average camping section of a Wal-mart or sporting goods store are completely innadequate for winter camping.

Winter camping is less recreational than summer camping, and is more for the serious camper who knows what they are doing.

Great list of things to look for here.

Thank god for this site. I dislocated my shoulder for the fourth time on Saturday. I was bound and determined NOT to go to the hospital AGAIN. Last time cost me $700 and several hours (in pain). I used the interlocking fingers one, and it popped right in with little pain. Small problem solved. ;) And now I should probably get this thing fixed!

Looking for a serious rain jacket as I commute/ride every day in Bangkok and need serious help during the rainy season. We need a forum where riders can discuss how these jackets hold up in the real world.

I have found that combinding a couple of those step work greta! If you need to clean your chacos more then just throwing them in the washer, but dont have time to hand wash them with soap, are great combination is to grab that toothbrush, wet the straps and apply baking soda straight to them. Make sure and cover the straps real good with the baking soda and the cover the dimand bed that so comfortabley holds your foot with the baking soda. You can either throw them in the washer immediately or let the baking soda sit for a bit so that it can work a little bit better before putting them in the washer. I have found washing them with towels seem to help with minimul damage to them also. This has worked great for me the last few years! Good luck with your!

Ahh. the memories of the agonizing pain. I have dislocated mine five times. Left..Thanks God not my right because my left has never been the same since the first time. I have dislocated it playing basket ball..someone came down on it while I was going for a shot. As the paramedics arrived they moved my arm prepping my for the ambulance ride..it went back in. That was easy..not so much for the second time. Swimming in the middle of a river and it popped out! My friend had to come get me and bring me to shore in serious pain! off to the hospital again. However the third time was the worst. All i did was shift my arm to quickly pointing to something behind me and it went out. Ahh.. I wasnt paying for an ambulance again so I had my friend drive me..every bump was hell. what was the worst was waiting at the hospital for four hours, then going through three doctors because none of them could figure it out! This was the first time of the five I ever took pain meds. After reading this forum I can relate to the thorn in our side that has cursed us. Wish it would never happen again..but if it does I don't ever want to wait four hours again to get that instant release of satisfaction when it goes back in..
